In order to ensure the sufficient and uninterrupted supply of certain agricultural and industrial products which are produced in insufficient quantities in the Union and thereby avoid any disturbances on the market for those products, autonomous tariff quotas were opened by Council Regulation (EU) No 1388/2013 and  autonomous Common Customs Tariff (‘CCT’) duties on those products have been suspended by Council Regulation (EU) No 1387/2013. Within those tariff quotas or duties suspension, products can be imported into the Union at reduced or zero duty rates.

On a regular basis, the UE Council, due to economic and commercial opportunities, modifies those quotas or the list of products with suspended duties.

Therefore on 13th June 2013, the Council of the European Union issued two Council Regulations, amending the old ones of 2013.

Specifically:

  • the COUNCIL REGULATION (EU) 201/998, amending Regulation (EU) No 1388/2013 opening and providing for the management of autonomous tariff quotas of the Union for certain agricultural and industrial products
  • the COUNCIL REGULATION (EU) 2019/999, amending Regulation (EU) No 1387/2013 suspending the autonomous Common Customs Tariff duties on certain agricultural and industrial products.
